Adelaide has one of the most extensive and accessible mountain bike trail networks in the world. Head for the Hills tailors mountain biking programs for schools, enabling them to leverage the amazing trails and provide students with unforgettable outdoor experiences, hands-on learning, and a deeper appreciation for both the sport and the natural environment.

Fully Customised & Comprehensive

We work directly with schools to design and deliver programs that meet the specific needs of both the school and its students. Mountain biking is an extraordinarily diverse sport and we custom design each program to:

  • Align with desired goals and outcomes
  • Incorporate appropriate and meaningful content
  • Provide opportunities for development and reflection
  • Cater to the students’ varying skill and experience levels

Optional Inclusions

We provide a flexible range of support options for school mountain biking programs such as:

  • Detailed program planning
  • Expert coaching & guiding
  • Bike & equipment hire
  • Rider support
  • Transport

By working closely with schools, we ensure that each program is delivered efficiently, aligns with budget considerations, and provides an engaging, high-quality experience for both students and staff.

Delivering More than Just Experiences

At Head for the Hills, we pride ourselves on providing more than just a generic mountain biking experience. By incorporating progressive skills development techniques into our programs, we enable students to achieve more while simultaneously reducing risk. Through close connections and collaborations with local groups, clubs, and the national sporting organisation, AusCycling, we guide students toward future participation opportunities, fostering ongoing engagement and a connection to the community for those interested in pursuing mountain biking after the program.

Our Programs in Action

Head for the Hills collaborated with Prescott College Southern, enabling the school to use mountain biking as a catalyst for delivering the Biomechanics and Improvement Folio components of the Stage 2 Health and Physical Education Curriculum.

Head for the Hills collaborated with Pembroke School to design and deliver an engaging mountain biking program for secondary school students. The progressive program provides a broad educational landscape where students develop their mountain biking skills while learning about decision making, risk management, the local environment and more.
