Program Information

These fun, skills-based sessions are offered at both beginner and intermediate levels. They introduce riders to new skills and help them discover ways to develop their riding.

Activities and the session structure are adjusted on the day to suit the group’s experience and energy, with topics that may include:

  • Balance and control
  • Body position
  • Braking technique
  • Cornering
  • Riding actively
  • Front and rear wheel lifts

Please note:

Mountain biking requires basic cycling skills. Riders attending beginner sessions must be able to confidently ride a bike with good control.
Riders attending intermediate sessions are expected to have some prior mountain biking experience and should be confident riding off-road on varied terrain. Intermediate level programs are best suited to riders who ride regularly and are looking to build on an existing skill base.

  • Appropriate clothing (enclosed shoes, comfortable sports clothing)
  • A water bottle (preferably one you can carry on your bike) or hydration backpack
  • Snacks to help keep energy levels up!
  • Any relevant medications

What Sort of Bike?

Riders will need a mountain bike in good working order, with functioning brakes and gears. BMX bikes and other single-speed styles aren’t suitable for this program. The ends of the handlebars must be covered with handlebar plugs for safety. If you’re unsure whether your bike is suitable, feel free to contact us.

Protective Gear

Riders are required to wear a helmet in good working order and are encouraged to consider any additional protective equipment, such as gloves and knee pads, that may help them feel comfortable and confident during the session. Additional protection, such as elbow pads or a full-face helmet, can provide extra assurance if you are planning to challenge yourself and may allow you to push your riding further without significantly increasing your risk of injury. Ultimately, riders are responsible for choosing the level of protection that best matches their skills, goals and comfort.

Drop Off & Pick Up Location

Participants may be dropped off and picked up at the carpark accessed via the west-bound lane of Ayliffes Road (map here) at the nominated times (see available dates and times in the booking window above).
