Program Information
The Technique Development for Women program gives you the skills and techniques to stay in control of your bike across all types of terrain, helping you ride with complete authority and confidence.
This program is ideal if you:
- Regularly ride intermediate trails with a solid foundation of control and stability and want to start developing dynamic bike handling skills; or
- Have a solid grasp of technique for technical trails and want to sharpen your skills for more advanced riding
We focus on:
- Rolling off and over obstacles with bike-body separation
- Maintaining stability on rough terrain
- Wheel lifts and bunny hops to clear larger trail features
- Climbing techniques for control and efficiency up technical trails
- Cornering with full control, flow and maximum exit speed
- Riding Actively to generate and maintain speed and flow
Our coaches will adapt content and activities to suit the group’s experience, goals and energy, ensuring every rider is challenged and supported at the right level.
Please note:
Participants are expected to have some prior mountain biking experience and should be confident riding off-road on varied terrain. This program is best suited to riders who ride regularly and are looking to build on an existing skill base.

What Sort of Bike?
Riders will need a mountain bike in good working order, with functioning brakes and gears. BMX bikes and other single-speed styles aren’t suitable for this program. E-bikes are suitable as long as they are designed for off-road use. The ends of the handlebars must be covered with handlebar plugs for safety. If you’re unsure whether your bike is suitable, feel free to contact us.
Protective Gear
Riders are required to wear a helmet in good working order and are encouraged to consider any additional protective equipment, such as gloves and knee pads, that may help them feel comfortable and confident during the session. Additional protection, such as elbow pads or a full-face helmet, can provide extra assurance if you are planning to challenge yourself and may allow you to push your riding further without significantly increasing your risk of injury. Ultimately, riders are responsible for choosing the level of protection that best matches their skills, goals and comfort.
Meeting Point
Participants are asked to meet their coach at the Blackwood Football Club car park (map here) 10 minutes prior to the session’s start time.
Facilities
There are public toilets and drinking water available at this venue.
