Riders have fun building skills, working as a team and exploring hidden locations throughout Sturt Gorge Recreation Park, all on two wheels.

Program Information

Before the adventure begins, riders warm up with a basic skills coaching session to learn and consolidate the fundamental techniques of mountain biking. We cover topics such as:

  • Vision
  • Body position
  • Braking technique
  • Gear selection

Our coaches will also provide other handy tips and answer any questions to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Once everyone is comfortable and settled, the adventure begins! A series of geocaches containing cleverly constructed cryptic clues are hidden all over the Craigburn Farm trail network. Riders work as a team using good old paper maps (not google-maps!) to find and decipher each clue, which hints to the next geocache’s secret location and the best trail to get there.

Riders will cover over 12 kilometres of trail and climb around 300 vertical meters during their adventure – don’t forget to bring your legs, your lunch and some grit for good measure!

Please note:
Mountain biking requires basic cycling skills. Participants must be able to confidently ride a bike with good control to participate in this program.

What Sort of Bike?

Riders will need a mountain bike in good working order, with functioning brakes and gears. BMX bikes and other single-speed styles aren’t suitable for this program. The ends of the handlebars must be covered with handlebar plugs for safety. If you’re unsure whether your bike is suitable, feel free to contact us.

Protective Gear

Riders are required to wear a helmet in good working order and are encouraged to consider any additional protective equipment, such as gloves and knee pads, that may help them feel comfortable and confident during the session. Additional protection, such as elbow pads or a full-face helmet, can provide extra assurance if you are planning to challenge yourself and may allow you to push your riding further without significantly increasing your risk of injury. Ultimately, riders are responsible for choosing the level of protection that best matches their skills, goals and comfort.
