Program Information
The Jumps and Drops Masterclass gives you the skills you need to get airborne with control and confidence. Our coaches will guide you through fundamental techniques first, then layer in advanced variations so you build a complete understanding of how to jump and ride drop-offs with precision.
This program is ideal if you:
- Have a firm grasp of the skills and techniques outlined in our Technique Development program and want to take your jumping and drop-off skills to the next level; or
- Are an experienced rider who wants to sharpen your jumping and drop-off skills for greater control and confidence
We focus on:
- Reinforcing the fundamental skills that underpin jumping and drop-off techniques
- Developing drop-off techniques for different speeds and trail scenarios
- Adjusting drop-off technique to cover more distance or land earlier when needed
- Building solid basic jumping technique
- Introducing advanced jumping techniques to control height and distance without changing speed
Our coaches will adapt content and activities on the day to suit the group’s experience, goals and energy, ensuring every rider is challenged and supported at the right level.
We highly recommend completing our Base Skills and Technique Development programs before attending.

More Information
What to Bring
- Your bike and helmet in good working order
- A water bottle (preferably one you can carry on your bike) or hydration backpack
- A packed lunch and snacks
- Any relevant medications
- Weather dependent considerations (sunscreen, rain jacket, change of clothes etc.)
What Sort of Bike?
Most styles of mountain bikes are suitable for this program, as long as they are in good working order with functioning gears and brakes. Riders will cover a range of trails during the session, so bikes need to be capable of handling varied terrain. E-bikes are suitable as long as they are designed for off-road use. Downhill bikes are strongly discouraged, as they are not suitable for general trail riding and may limit your experience. If you’re unsure whether your bike is suitable, feel free to contact us.
Protective Gear
Riders are required to wear a helmet in good working order and are encouraged to consider any additional protective equipment, such as gloves and knee pads, that may help them feel comfortable and confident during the session. Additional protection, such as elbow pads or a full-face helmet, can provide extra assurance if you are planning to challenge yourself and may allow you to push your riding further without significantly increasing your risk of injury. Ultimately, riders are responsible for choosing the level of protection that best matches their skills, goals and comfort.
Meeting Point
Participants are asked to meet their coach at the Blackwood Football Club car park (map here) 10 minutes prior to the session’s start time.
Facilities
There are public toilets and drinking water available at this venue.
